Inspiring Connections Through the Power of Stories
Kind Read is a platform that brings together young individuals passionate about storytelling, acting, and filmmaking to create engaging videos or live storytimes, all in support of Kind Read's mission.
For many years, children’s books have largely been dominated by stories and characters that reflect a narrow cultural perspective. This lack of diversity means that children from minority backgrounds—whether racial, ethnic, or cultural—rarely see themselves represented in the books they read. This absence of relatable characters and experiences can leave minority children feeling marginalized, unseen, and undervalued.

Research shows that children develop a sense of identity and self-worth from a young age, and seeing characters that look like them or share their experiences can have a profound impact on their self-esteem and sense of belonging. Moreover, children from majority cultures miss out on the opportunity to engage with different perspectives, fostering empathy and cultural understanding.

Kind Read is committed to closing the gap in representation by providing a platform for young individuals who are passionate about storytelling, acting, and filmmaking. We empower them to create live events and videos that highlight books aligned with our mission. By sharing these stories with children, we aim to foster inclusivity, cultural pride, and mutual understanding—ensuring that every child can see themselves reflected in the stories they read.

We invite you to be part of this important mission. Whether it’s by volunteering, sharing books, or participating in our events, your involvement directly supports our efforts to build a more inclusive world where diverse voices are heard and celebrated.
